Session Title:Wood Finishing Products and Techniques 

Description: A well-crafted woodworking project can be ruined by poor finishing products and techniques. A poorly crafted project can look like a beautiful heirloom piece if the right products and techniques are applied.
This theory-based session will look at different types of wood finishing products and different ways to
apply them. This session will not be looking at artistic styles and techniques. Information about the
composition of various types of finishes will be looked at and the pros and cons of different types of
products for different types of applications will be covered. Topics covered will include: water-based vs
oil-based. Urethane, varnish, lacquer, sanding sealers, epoxy, pre-catalyzed lacquers, and shellac.
Linseed oil vs Tung oil vs Danish Oil.  Pigment vs Dye vs Gel stains. Wipe-on vs brush on vs spray on
products. Pre-finishing, sanding, cleanup products and HVLP spray guns will also be covered.

Session Title: Introduction to Arduinos 

Description: Max 20 participants – Must bring your own Laptop and have a general knowledge of electronic components (Breadboards, LED’s, resistors, ect.)
 
We will be discussing how to get Arduino started within your classroom. Taking a fun look at sensor kits for beginners along with sample projects students have built. Beyond this, the aim is to get you comfortable using a range of electronic components through small, simple and easy circuits. Please bring your own laptop as we will be taking you through the ‘Experimenter’s Guide for Arduino.’

Description: Come one, come all and enjoy the ins and outs of a traditional Louisiana seafood boil and dump-Cajun burners, crawfish, seafood boils and much much more-Bring your appetite!

Session Title: G Suite for Education

Description: This session will show educators how to set up a communication hub on Google Classroom and use Google Sheets to keep track of student performance and attendance day-to-day. Some examples shown will include: how to set up safety quizzes with corresponding safety information sheets, show a variety of assessments done with google forms and possibly other online software that can be used to keep track of student progress.

Session Title: Supermileage Challenge

Description: Come find out about this great opportunity for your students to explore and be innovative beyond the class and lab environment. This is an information session about the competition, how to get started, the Do’s and Don’ts, and what the J.H. Bruns Supermileage group has accomplished over the past 10yrs.
 
In an effort to increase support for and promotion of Industrial Arts/Technology Education, MTEEA hosts a Supermileage Challenge event. This is an annual event that helps to increase public awareness in the area of fuel economy and student involvement. Competing students and clubs will be challenged to build a one-person, fuel-efficient vehicle powered by a single cylinder four-stroke cycle engines, hybrid or full electric vehicles.

The Technology Educators Association of Manitoba (T.E.A.M) is a volunteer organization of Industrial Arts teachers whose main goal is to promote Technology and Industrial Arts Education in Manitoba. TEAM offers professional development opportunities including our annual MTS PD Day sessions and funding for our members .
